About Centropa Student

Centropa Student is the multi-media educational program of Centropa.  We are currently working in more than 70 schools in 12 countries. Our goal is to provide a fresh and innovative approach to teaching 20th Century European-Jewish history. Our program is based on 1250 biographies and more than 20.000 old familiy photos which Centropa's interview teams have collected and put on the web between 2000 and 2008. From selected stories, we have produced a collection of more than 20 personal short films about European-Jewish family stories. You can access all of our photos and English-language biographies from our database .

Since 2006, Centropa Student has been tested with focus groups in US and Hungarian schools. Since then our website has been expanded to include online Study Guides as well as classroom-tested teaching materials. We have created a public section for teaching material as well as a password-protection for registered educators, from which you can access all of our teaching materials, including lesson plans and exercises as well as exams. The registration for our website is completely free!

We also developed an interactive page called Border Jumping for classes to upload their own photos, videos and texts and share these projects with students all over the world.
